Description

Abell 28 is a 13.5 mag planetary nebula in the constellation Ursa Major with very low surface brightness. It has a diameter of about 5.5 arc minutes. The blue central star is slightly offset to the lower right, and there is a shock wave visible on the south east rim. Additionally the surface brightness is lowest in the upper left and brightest in the lower right. All of this suggests that the central star is rapidly moving to the lower right causing the shock wave as the nebula interacts with the interstellar medium.
